Sunflower seeds milk

    
Sunflower seeds with injera (YeSuf Fitfit)

Health Benefits of Sunflower seed: Help with eyes, good for muscles, support good immunity and promote a healthy weight. 
 


Ingredients

1 cup of washed sunflower seeds
1 small red onion, . White onion can also work 
2 medium jalapenos
1 tomato 
salt
2 1/2 cups of water

How to make it

Chop the onion, tomato and jalapenos in small pieces  
Wash a cup on sunflower seeds and bring it to boil with 2 cups of water.
Boil it for about 10 min. You will see the seeds turning gray. 
 (Rinsing them out is optional after boiling)

Use your best blender to juice or milk the seeds by adding about 1/2 cup of water (small amount at a time). Blend on high for 1-3 minutes. 
Strain out the juice or milk using strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl

Extra Tip: 
  • you can save the juice or the milk in the fridge up to 3 days and drink it as well
  • you can use the strained out tiny pieces of seeds as a face mask or on your heels to get a smooth skin.
Add your chopped onion, tomato. and jalapeños 
Add salt (as needed)
Break small pieces of injera and add to the mix (important: add injera slowly not to dry the fitfit)

Then serve it alone or as a side dish with other stews.
